The presidential election year cycle is well underway and the Ecumenical Poverty Initiative is sponsoring one of the most important events of the year. Ecumenical Advocacy Days is a national gathering and Lobby Day for Christians from across the U.S. It will be held from Friday, April 15- Monday, April 17, 2016 in the nation’s capital and reflect on the theme, “Lift Every Voice! Racism, Class & Power.” Participants will come together to address solutions to issues of injustice in communities of color and those impacting immigrants, voter suppression and economic exploitation. A weekend filled with dynamic speakers, workshops and opportunities for corporate worship and fellowship will give attendees the tools and information they need to visit their representatives during the Lobby Day on Monday, April 17. Speakers include: Rev. Dr. William Barber, president of the North Carolina NAACP and the convener of the Forward Together Moral Movement; Marian Wright Edelman, founder and president, Children’s Defense Fund; and, Rev. Amy Gopp, vice president of external relations, IMA Health, among many others. For more information about Ecumenical Advocacy Days or to register, click here.
