The Cooperative Baptist Fellowship (CBF) enters the courts to advance its predatory lending advocacy. Founded in 1991, CBF recently “….requested to join litigation to defend…” the most recent payday lending rule that the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) issued in October 2017. The litigation request responds to two payday lending associations suit against the CFPB. This is an historic move for CBF. Read their statement here https://cbf.net/paydaylitigation.
We are grateful for the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship’s faithful witness. Ecumenical Poverty Initiative and the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship belong to Faith for Just Lending, a coalition of faith-based organizations that work to end predatory lending, and the Faith & Credit Roundtable, a group of clergy and faith leaders who lend their voices and advocacy to fight abusive lending practices.
